[June 29, 2018 – Mentor, OH] – The Lake County Council on Aging is seeking volunteers in all program areas; “Meals on Wheels”, Nutrition site kitchens, Friendly Visitors, Grocery Shoppers, and Office/Reception Support. A number of programs have immediate urgent needs and others will have needs as the fall season arrives.

We are looking for volunteers who can deliver nutritious meals to seniors in Eastlake, Wickliffe, Painesville, Madison and Mentor. Those interested are asked to dedicate at least one day per week or every other week from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm approximately. Every weekday 3 of our Nutrition sites also provide a lunchtime meal in Wickliffe, Eastlake and Madison and can always use an extra hand in the kitchen for about 3 hours or so beginning at 8am.

“The demand for Meals on Wheels service has been increasing each year resulting in this current critical need” said Joe Tomsick, Chief Executive Officer of the Lake County Council on Aging. “The success of the program relies heavily on volunteers who graciously assist us in the packing of the meals and delivery.”

Lake County Council on Aging is also experiencing an increase in the need for Friendly Visitors and Grocery Shoppers for homebound seniors. These support services meet critical needs to be able to obtain an optimal, self-defined life for Lake County seniors and only takes an hour or two every week or every other week.
