Make reservations by September 25th to enjoy first week of meals

[September 13, 2019 – Mentor, OH] – The Lake County Council on Aging is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of its newest ‘Lunch Place’ senior dining opportunity at the Painesville Nutrition Site located within the Extended Housing Wellness Center, 270 E. Main Street in downtown Painesville.  A weekday meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. to eligible seniors aged 60 years or older.  Spouses of any age or disabled, dependent children may also be served when accompanied by an eligible senior.

According to Council on Aging Chief Executive Officer Joseph Tomsick, the Painesville Lunch Place is slated to open Monday, September 30th, and will offer a hot meal designed to meet one-third of the daily nutritional requirements for adults.  The sit down lunch also provides an opportunity for conversation and socialization with peers.  Recent site renovations provide a suitable environment and the motivation to allow the agency to move ahead with the new Painesville Lunch Place location.

Nancy Niehus, Director of Community Services for the Lake County Council on Aging, indicated that menus are published on a monthly basis, allowing guests to visit daily Monday through Friday; or to choose a particular day based on the entrée scheduled to be served.  One meal is served daily from the rotation; some of the entrees are stuffed cabbage, beef stew, chicken alfredo, roast turkey and breaded fish.  Each meal includes a vegetable, fruit, a starch and milk.  Besides the meal, this program offers guests a wonderful opportunity to socialize on a daily basis.  Friendships are made at the Lunch Place.  The bonus is that there are no dishes to wash!

Lunch Place guests are required to make reservations for their meals by Wednesday of the current week, for meals to be served the following week.  Reservations for the opening week of September 30th need to be made no later than September 25th.  Guests are offered the opportunity to make a suggested donation of $1.50 per meal to defray some of the program costs.  However, no one is denied a meal due to affordability.
