[March 13, 2020 – Mentor, OH] – In response to the growing concerns and suggested safeguards associated with the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Lake County Council on Aging has made the decision to cancel our 2020 March for Meals event scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at the Great Lakes Mall.

The community support we have received for March for Meals has been overwhelming and we thank everyone who sponsored, donated to or planned on participating in the event.  The health and safety of those who would have been participating at the event was at the forefront of this decision.

“We certainly don’t want to put anyone at risk or in a situation where they can be exposed to the virus”, said Joe Tomsick, CEO of the Lake County Council on Aging. “Our focus remains on the health and welfare of our staff, consumers, volunteers and our partners.”

The Council on Aging is making changes to protocols in every service area in order to help prevent the spread of this virus.  This is a dynamic situation and the agency will respond appropriately, learning and adapting as new information is made available.
