Lake County Council on Aging joins Meals on Wheels America and Subaru of America, Inc. in Sharing the Love this Holiday Season

[November 18, 2021 – Mentor, OH] – The Lake County Council on Aging is proud to announce that it will be participating in the 2021 Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America – one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the campaign. From November 18, 2021, through January 3, 2021, Subaru of America will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased to the customer’s choice of participating charities.

“We are grateful to our partners like Subaru and Meals on Wheels America”, said Joe Tomsick, CEO of the Lake County Council on Aging.  Tomsick further added, “Every day our volunteers and staff assist seniors in our community because they know it’s the right thing to do. This kind gesture of giving back to the community – a community that has given us so much – is close to our hearts and can be felt by all we serve.  The ‘Share the Love’ campaign helps us continue to support Lake County seniors who are isolated, vulnerable and in need of food.”

Participating Meals on Wheels America members, like Lake County Council on Aging, will receive a share of the donation raised by Subaru in their state. Lake County Council on Aging has partnered with Adventure Subaru in Painesville and Ganley Subaru in Wickliffe to raise awareness for the popular year-end sales and giving event, and drive support for Meals on Wheels through The Blizzard Bag Food Drive.

Adventure Subaru in Painesville and Ganley Subaru in Wickliffe, Laketran, Lake County General Health District office on Heisley, and Senior Centers throughout Lake County are the proud hosts of a Blizzard Bag Food Drive collection bin along with support from Lake County Commissioners Board and the Lake County Volunteer Network. Bring your donation of a non-perishable food item; such as, canned tuna, chili, ravioli, soup, bean, vegetables, fruit or packaged macaroni and cheese, crackers with cheese/peanut butter, trail mix, peanut butter, oatmeal, fruit juice or protein bars. Blizzard Bags will be given to Meals on Wheels seniors who request a 2-3 day emergency food supply.
