[October 16, 2018 – Mentor, OH] – The Lake County Council on Aging is seeking volunteers for “Meals on Wheels”. A number of locations have immediate urgent needs and others will have needs as winter arrives and volunteers travel south.

We are looking for volunteers who can deliver nutritious meals to seniors in Eastlake, Wickliffe, Painesville, Madison and Mentor. Those interested are asked to dedicate at least one day per week or every other week from 10:30am to 12:30pm approximately. If you are unable to make a regular commitment, you can still volunteer as a dedicated substitute MOW driver. Substitute MOW drivers serve intermittently when they are available.

The demand for Meals on Wheels service has been increasing each year as it meets a critical need for many seniors. The seniors served by LCCoA rely on the hot meal delivery and greatly appreciate the service, as shared by one client, “My husband and I really appreciate having a hot meal delivered. It’s nice to see whoever comes and to know there is someone coming if we needed anything. It’s nice not to worry about cooking.”

In less than 2 hours per week, you can positively impact the life of 15 seniors by delivering a hot meal with a friendly smile and a few nice words while checking in on the well-being of the client.

Please call Linda Llewellyn at the Council on Aging at 440-205-8111, ext. 228 or email Lllewellyn@lccoa.org for more information and to begin making a difference in the lives of seniors.
