Employed as a rural mail carrier before her retirement, Mrs. Balog is not afraid to take to the road to volunteer her time and talents to worthy causes, including delivering food to Kirtland seniors or transporting blood for the Red Cross.

Veronica Balog has volunteered at the Lake County Chapter of the Red Cross for 52 years. In the past, she has driven blood from Lake County to Cleveland. Currently, her main volunteer responsibilities at the Red Cross are at the bloodmobiles, where she runs the canteen for donors.

Mrs. Balog has prepared and served comfort meals for bereaved families for the Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby for many years. She also delivers Meals on Wheels for the Lake County Council on Aging. She picks up bakery items from the Chardon Heinens for the Hunger Center and several senior groups in Kirtland.
