“Sebastiana is the kindest person I know.” That quote provides an accurate description of Sebastiana Pletcher, whose willingness and eagerness to help sets a tremendous example for young and old alike.
Seba is a picture perfect volunteer. At age 75, she is actively involved in 5 volunteer groups at her church, St. John Vianney and 8 volunteer groups at the Mentor Senior Center. Not only is she a tireless volunteer, she has a servant’s heart, showing kindness and caring to all she meets and lifting the morale of all she interacts with.
Seba was named the Mentor Senior Center Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year in 2008. She is a member of the Mentor Senior Center Advisory Board, and currently serves as Board Treasurer. She is also active on the Scholarship Committee, is a kitchen cashier, office assistant and podiatrist receptionist volunteer. A master cake baker, she bakes about 25 homemade cakes a year for the Mentor Senior Center board members and staff… it’s been said that attendance at board meetings has never been better!
As a parish member at St. John Vianney in Mentor, Seba serves as the Mission Circle secretary, is a Certificate Member Committee member, fish fry cashier, funeral meal preparation volunteer and festival volunteer, just to name a few!
When Seba sees a need, she fills it. She makes every group she is involved in more positive, constantly extending kindness and truly making the world we live in a better place.
