Norman Davis is a man who is sincerely concerned for people in serious and depressing situations. He has been a volunteer chaplain of the Lake County Jail for nine years, and a volunteer chaplain for the State of Ohio for Death Row inmates for seven years. During these years of service, Deacon Davis’s acts of kindness towards people in dire straits have changed many lives for the better by helping reform individuals, personal, spiritual, family, and business life.

Deacon Davis has counseled hundreds of inmates at the Lake County Jail. He has also assisted the families of inmates by providing them food, financial counseling, and other needed services. Deacon Davis established a library at the jail by soliciting reading and other materials from local organizations and businesses. In Mansfield, the Deacon serves as a spiritual chaplain for two Death Row inmates. He has baptized both men and brings communion to them on each visit. He also provides spiritual and material help to their families, and opens his home to them when they must travel to the Painesville Courthouse.

For 14 years, Norman Davis has volunteered as the Outreach Director of the St. Gabriel’s Food Bank, and currently serves as a Deacon and Pastoral Assistant at St. Gabriel Church. In 1999, the Deacon helped to provide over 9,000 meals to needy and homebound individuals in Lake and Geauga counties. He solicits food and monetary donations from area supermarkets, corporations, and small businesses to maintain the food bank Deacon Davis is also active in several service organizations, including the VFW in Fairport Harbor, the Painesville Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul Society .
