Marjorie Doyle

2009

Marjorie Doyle, 93, has been retired since age 75; yet, retirement has not slowed her down in the least! Marge has made a tremendous impact as a volunteer at Hospice of the Western Reserve because of her devotion to the Hospice mission and philosophy. She gives generously of her time, energy and skills. For the past 15 years, Marge has volunteered with Hospice, coming in weekly, working long hours and willing to do whatever is needed to help out. She is so supportive of the Hospice’s Mentor office by handling many different clerical tasks like organizing, reviewing and updating patient records. Her genuine love for people, and her caring and compassionate disposition make her a joy to be around. Marjorie is involved in other organizations, including her church, St. Gabriel. She belongs to the church’s Mission Circle and helps with their annual garage sale and bake sales. Marge volunteers with the church’s Heavenly Dusters, as they clean the sacristy weekly. Other organizations where Marge has been involved include: Christ-Child’s “The Cottage,” where she has priced the store’s items and LakeEast Hospital where she has done secretarial work on the maternity floor (1992), and in 1994, Marge began working in the hospital’s gift shop. Around the same time, she began helping out at the Mentor Medical Campus information desk each week. In all that Marge does, she has a gift of giving and helping others, and she asks nothing in return. There is not much that has stopped Marge even when her vision changed, and she could no longer drive. Instead, Marge took Laketran to her volunteer assignments. She doesn’t let any obstacle stand in her way. Marge is an inspiration to so many whose lives have been touched by her presence.
