1994

In nominating Hugh Pallister, William Owen wrote, “Hugh’s life is devoted to volunteering and serving others, it is the overall impact of his efforts which should be recognized”.

This couldn’t be more true. Hugh Pallister has donated him time, knowledge and talents on a variety of community service projects improving the quality of life for all members of the Willoughby community.

To name just a few of his accomplishments: Organizing and running the Willoughby Farmer’s Market where seniors and families in Willoughby can buy fresh produce, Chairing the Lake Metropark Foundation which raised thousands of dollars for special projects, serving on the Cooperative Extension Environmental Education, Advisory and Support Committee, Willoughby City Councilman for 24 years, the Lake County Council of Governments, Willoughby Chamber of Commerce, The Heart of Willoughby, many environmental organizations, and much more.

Nominator Barbara Tunner Douglas wrote, “His efforts during the last 20 years have provided a great role model for senior citizens and those of us who will become senior citizens. He has seen his retirement as a way to serve the county more”.

At 80 years old, Hugh Pallister is as busy as ever. He has devoted thousands of hours towards creating and maintaining a better quality of life for all age groups.
