Clemens Urbanski

1995

Hundreds of children and adults have been served spiritually, emotionally and materially by our next inductee: Deacon Clemens Urbanski of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fairport. Deacon Urbanski was ordained at the age of 58 and has been working tirelessly for the people of Fairport Harbor for 17 years.

His leadership and communication with other Fairport churches have led to mutual understanding and respect. The result? Collaborative projects benefiting both old and young. Deacon Urbanski helped organize and continues to operate “The Breakfast Bunch”‘ – a program providing hot breakfasts for elementary school children in Fairport. Responsibility rotates to a given church each week. Deacon Urbanski assures that no child in Fairport goes to school without proper nourishment.

He also operates the Fairport Food Bank and supports all Fairport churches in caring for the needy. Deacon Urbanski is Chaplin for the Lake County Jail and Fairport Fire Department. Many people have been given courage and hope through his efforts. His happiness and tireless energy are contagious.

Deacon Urbanski doesn’t pass up an opportunity to help, he collects stamps and food labels for missionaries, and collaborates with St. Vincent DePaul Society and Catholic Hunger and Shelter Programs in Cleveland.

In nominating Deacon Urbanski, Reverend Peter Mihalic says, “Deacon Urbanski is a wholesome role model, not only as a husband and father, not only as an outstanding citizen, but as a man of faith. He is important to people of all ages.”
