Frances Hansen

Frances Hansen, 84, is a woman who puts her heart into her involvement in over 15 organizations. She is best known for her devotion to the American Cancer Society (ACS) where she has been a volunteer since 1956, serving as a board member and currently as a member of the Task Force. She has been volunteering as a counselor and instructor with the Breast Cancer Reach to Recovery program since 1984, acting as program coordinator from 1984-1998. Frances, a five-time cancer survivor, has counseled hundreds of breast cancer patients and their families for over 47 years. Her impact on their lives is overwhelming as she offers hope and comfort in a time of need.

Fran is also active at Lake Hospital System where she has served in various capacities for 40 years, including being past president and member of the Lake Hospital Auxiliary Board. She is currently a member of the Senior Advisory Board.

Frances is a parishioner at St. Gabriel Church in Concord Twp. where she is an active member of the 50+ Club, Mission Circle and Bereavement Committee. Other organizations touched by her compassion and generosity are the Mentor Women’s Service Club, Willoughby Fine Arts Association, Case Western Reserve University Adult Education, North Coast Volunteer Leadership Association and SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives).

Frances Hansen has received many awards and recognitions for her past accomplishments. Among them are the ACS Quality of Life and Dedicated Service Award for 30 years of service (1986), Outstanding Performance Award from the Women’s Planning Group of Lakeland Community College (1998) and Lake Hospital 40 year Volunteer (2003).
