
Ruth Gano
Ruth
Gano, 85, exemplifies service and faithfulness to those organizations and her
church where she volunteers and has proven to be an irreplaceable asset.
Since becoming a member in 1985, Ruth has volunteered 6,000 hours to the
Mentor Senior Center. She also has logged 12,000 hours at Lake East Hospital where
she can be found working in the gift shop, emergency room or at the information
desk. Ruth is a very active
volunteer who serves the Lake County community to the fullest extent.
Her life is an example of the diverse and important service that one
individual can provide to her community, making a difference in so many lives
with whom she comes in contact.
As a member of
the Mentor Senior Center, Ruth is the hostess chairperson, a member of the
Mentor Senior Center Advisory Board serving as corresponding secretary for many
years, organizer of the Mentor Music Makers group, pinochle
secretary and “green thumb” of the Center.
Ruth is willing to pitch in
to do anything necessary to help out an organization.
Wherever she is needed that is where you will find Ruth Gano.
Mrs. Gano is a
member of the Mary Martha Circle at Painesville United Methodist Church.
The group raises money for the church’s projects with events such as
the Fall Festival. Ruth also acts
as greeter and works in the kitchen at the church.
Ruth
Gano was chosen Mentor Senior Citizen of the Year in 1992.
She has received awards from RSVP and Lake County Hospital System for the
high number of volunteer hours that she has given to the Lake County community.
