Volunteering
Lake County Council on Aging is grateful to service such an active and service-oriented community! With over 600 volunteers and less than 50 staff, volunteers extend the agency's outreach to serve more elderly residents in need than would otherwise be possible. Our volunteer-to-staff ratio averages 14:1. Just as impressive, approximately 85-90% of our volunteers are active on a weekly or bi-weekly basis! Seasonal volunteer opportunities are also available. We appreciate your time - whether it's once a week or at the holidays – because your service brightens and stabilizes the lives of our senior clients.
Volunteer opportunities exist for a diverse population. Corporate groups, service organizations, friends, siblings, and individuals all have an opportunity to assist our Lake County seniors. A range of volunteer positions are available to accommodate a variety of schedules. Whether you can help during weekdays, weekends, evening or daytime hours – there is an option for you!
Most of our volunteer positions allow you to get to know those directly benefiting from your time: our senior clients. Many of our clients regularly express their appreciation as they know that the person helping them through their day is a volunteer. Many of our agency volunteers express that they get as much or more joy out of volunteering than the client they serve! As you can see, it can be a win-win situation.
With our mileage reimbursement option, volunteering just costs you your time! If you have a few hours a week or month to share, please call Volunteer Services Manager, Traci Hissam, at (440) 205-8111 ext. 228 to get started. Volunteering increases smileage, and we pay your mileage!
