Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering

Lake County Council on Aging is grateful to be a part of such an active and service-oriented community! With over 500 volunteers and less than 50 staff, volunteers extend the agency’s ability in serving more elderly residents in need, than would otherwise be possible. Our volunteer-to-staff ratio averages 14:1. Just as impressive, approximately 85-90% of our volunteers are active on a weekly or bi-weekly basis! Your service brightens and enhances the lives of our senior clients.

Volunteer opportunities are diverse. Individuals, corporate groups, service organizations, friends, siblings, families, and individuals all have an opportunity to serve our Lake County seniors. A range of volunteer positions are available to accommodate a variety of schedules. Whether you can help during weekdays, weekends, evening or the daytime, there is an option for you!

Most of our volunteer positions allow you to get to know our senior clients. Many of our clients regularly express their appreciation as they know volunteers are helping them through their day. Many of our agency volunteers express how much joy they get from volunteering for our clients. Sharing 2 hours a week or less can truly make a difference in the life of a senior and in your life too.

If you have a few hours a week or month to share, please call Ann Marie Armaro, at (440) 205-8111 ext. 228, AArmaro@Lccoa.org or complete the form below to get started.

Volunteer Positions

Meals On Wheels Drivers

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for those who enjoy being active. Devote 1 to 2 hours once per week delivering hot lunchtime meals to homebound senior clients – OR – substitute as needed when you are available. Clients appreciate the hot meal and find comfort in knowing someone checks in on them.

Meals on Wheels Adopt-a-Route Drivers

Adopt-a- Route for Meals on Wheels is a great way to help seniors and share the experience of volunteering. For businesses, service organizations, church groups, and even groups of friends; this is a great team/relationship building activity. While providing a caring service to a senior in need, your Adopt-a-Route group will feel great and have fun together forming a better team/relationship. The members of your group will partner with each other to deliver meals on a scheduled day each week taking 2 hours or less. Your group can be comprised of 2, 4 or more. While even numbers work great, it can be any number of members that you will schedule 2 at a time to deliver meals. Adopt-a-Route is a great alternative when you can’t commit to delivering each week. Share it with your group and the commitment is easy.

Meals on Wheels Packers/Kitchen Support

Ever hear the saying, “No matter where I serve my guests, it seems they like my kitchen best”? If you enjoy the ambiance of a kitchen, this volunteer opportunity is for you! Volunteer one day per week at a Lake County nutrition site to prepare and package food for Meals on Wheels deliveries. It’s rewarding to know you’re helping seniors meet one of their basic needs!

Dining Room Servers at the Lunch Place

Who isn’t happy when they see someone coming to serve them up a hot meal with a friendly smile? Volunteer one day per week at a Lake County nutrition site to serve hot lunches to seniors attending our congregate meal program at the Lunch Place. Your weekday lunch hour will soon include a bunch of new friends!

Administrative and Office Support

Be a part of our office team providing essential support in reception, answering phones, making calls, filing, copying, data entry, word processing and critical projects. A couple of hours a week enables LCCoA operate efficiently and effectively to serve more seniors.

Community and Events

LCCoA is an active member of the community; participating in senior events, speaking to community groups and sharing information in the community about our services and volunteer opportunities.

Didn’t see your interest listed? What would you like to do? If you have a special skill or interest that you would like to share with our organization and the seniors we serve, please let us know.
