Margaret Piekul has been a volunteer in Lake County for over twenty years.  Among the organizations that have benefited from her talents and generosity are Hospice of the Western Reserve, Reach to Recovery, the Timberlake Women’s Club, and the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools.  She has also contributed over five thousand volunteer hours at Lake Hospital Systems in many areas, including the Geriatric Assessment Program, Emergency Center, and the Patient Representative Program.

 

          Mrs. Piekul is an accomplished cook.  She contributed to WVIZ’s cookbook, the proceeds from which went to fund educational television programming.  She also was instrumental in producing the Lake Hospital Auxiliary Cookbook, featuring 650 recipes, many of them contributed by Mrs. Piekul herself.  Proceeds went to the Lake/University Ireland Cancer Center.

 

          The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Willoughby- Eastlake Schools, and several public officials have recognized Mrs. Piekul for her outstanding contributions to the community.
