Leonard Holzheimer
Leonard
Holzheimer is a man on a mission to provide enthusiasm, humor and a much needed
lift to patients and staff at LakeWest Hospital.
He turns holidays and every day into a celebration.
He will provide his team of volunteers with leprechaun hats on St.
Patrick’s day, Santa caps at Christmas, bunny tails at Easter, Indian
headdresses during play-offs and the list goes on.
Leonard will share jokes, stickers, wisdom and even a song and dance with
all. Mr. Holzheimer’s gift for
cheering up people and compassion sets him apart.
Leonard has been a volunteer at Lake Hospital Systems since 1998, giving
of his time at the front desk, in Transport and maintaining the hospital’s
aquariums. Since 1996, Mr.
Holzheimer has been a presenter for elementary school field trips at the Little
Red Schoolhouse. He gives of his
time at the St. Joseph Christian Life Center where he washes dishes and serves
coffee. Leonard is a caregiver with the Hospice of Western Reserve since 1996,
and for several years now, a visitor to the Cleveland Clinic in Willoughby Hills
might chance upon Leonard’s
smiling face and warm hello as he greets you as you enter the facility. Mr. Holzheimer volunteers with the Mt. Carmel Players
thesbian group as a floor manager and actor!
He is also a 30 gallon donor to the Red Cross, including being a platelet
donor.
Mr. Holzheimer’s involvement in civic organizations include: the
Willowick/Eastlake Rotary, Euclid Jaycees and Lion’s club as a member and past
officer. He is also a 32nd
degree Mason.
Leonard is the recipient of the 2000 Villa Angela/St. Joseph #1 Fan
Award, Worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and numerous Dancing
Awards.
