
JoAnn Ramsey
JoAnn
Ramsey, 74, has a heart of gold that leads the way as her volunteer efforts
impact the Lake County community. JoAnn has provided an incredible amount
of “worker bee” hours for the Willoughby Food Pantry, Lake Hospital System
Foundation, Willoughby United Methodist Church and Hospice of the Western
Reserve. As Director of the Food Pantry, housed at the Willoughby United
Methodist Church, she is involved in the collection, solicitation and
distribution of food, and related provisions to those in need. JoAnn
manages volunteer staff and all business related functions of the Food Pantry.
As
a Lake Hospital Foundation Trustee, JoAnn started the Ramsey Nursing Education
Fund, in honor of her late husband, William J. Ramsey. This fund provides
ongoing education for the nursing staff. She also is a senior advisory
board member for Lake Hospital System.
JoAnn
is immersed in her church as chairwoman of the Missions and Social Concerns
committee. As part of a mission team, JoAnn and members of her family,
traveled to Russia to aid the mentally and physically handicapped orphans.
As a Salvation Army representative, JoAnn “Rings the Bell” at Christmas.
In addition, she is an outreach minister to an inner city Cleveland church,
providing a hot meal each month.
Since
1971, JoAnn has been a volunteer of Hospice and currently volunteers on the
cardio-pulmonary phone support team. She is a member of the City of
Willoughby’s “Clean City” commission, organizing beautification efforts.
JoAnn
is the 2004, 2005 and 2006 recipient of the Gratitude Award from the Salvation
Army, Volunteer of the Year in 2000 from New Direction for Living and has
received recognition awards from Hospice of the Western Reserve.
