Louis Andersen

1996

As an educator, principal and coach, Louis Andersen has impacted the lives of many students, teachers, and community members since he moved to Painesville over 40 years ago.

Until his retirement in 1980, Mr. Andersen spent his time and efforts influencing the youth of the community. Now he volunteers his time to improve the lives of older adults through his involvement in the Painesville Senior Center.

Louis Andersen’s accomplishments in education are numerous. He was a teacher at John R. Williams Jr. High School until he became the first principal at Auburn Road Middle School, which he held until retiring in 1980. He also served as the President of the Painesville Township Board of Education, volunteered at the YMCA, and coached for the Painesville Little League for 15 years.

Currently, Mr. Andersen dedicates his efforts to the Painesville Senior Center, where he is involved with variety shows, ceramics, fund raisers, and daily activities. In fact, he is so well known at the center that he was chosen as Painesville Senior Citizen of the Year in 1995.
