Janet Podolak - 2011

For thirty-plus years, Janet has shared her experiences and those of Lake County residents as a feature reporter for The News-Herald. Throughout her career, Janet has won multiple gold medals and first place awards for her contributions to multiple publications. She has been named the Travel Journalist of the Year 2007 by the Henry Bradshaw Award, and Photojournalist of the Year for 2004 and 2008. Besides taking her readers to locations around the world through her travel columns, Janet has championed the Lake County community and its residents through her Sunday Community column; saved lives and raised awareness through her Health column; given insight into varying beliefs and spirituality through Saturday religion; and never fails to entertain and enlighten with new and exciting recipes and restaurants with her Food column. Since turning 60, Janet remains a member of the Society of American Travelers, the Midwestern Travel Writers Association, the Holden Arboretum, the North American Travel Journalists Association, local book clubs, and the Mentor Heisley Racquet Club; she is also active in the Lake County Historical Society, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the International Culinary Arts & Sciences Institute. Since turning 60 she has traveled to France, Italy, England, Spain, Greenland, Iceland, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Costa Rica, Belize, Bonaire, Aruba, Croatia and more. We wish Janet many more happy and successful travels!
