The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) is the state’s official Medicare educational program. Since 1992, OSHIIP has been working with a statewide network of partner organizations and volunteers to help Ohioans understand and enroll in Medicare.

The Lake County Council on Aging is one such organization.

In 2013, the Lake County Council on Aging OSHIIP program set a record by counseling and educating more than 1330 Lake County residents and conducting more than 70 countywide outreach events. As we transition into the new year, the Lake County Council on Aging and OSHIIP will continue to provide expert assistance helping people understand the complexities of Medicare, its coverage options, financial assistance available, and with enrollment. These services are essential not only to the current Medicare population but also to the more than 10,000 Ohioans who turn 65 each and every month. If you have questions about Medicare or want to better understand your options, call the Council on Aging at 440-205-8111 or email us at
