We now serve a population group that spans over 40 years

Because of the wonderful advances in medicine and health, the Lake County Council on Aging is now serving a population group that spans over 40 years!

We have consumers who have just turned 60 and a few who are over 100, with every age in between. This provides a fascinating group to work with, since we have everyone from the “Greatest Generation” to newly-minted “Baby Boomers.” We have traditional housewives and women who worked outside the home most of their lives; World War II, Korean War, and Viet Nam veterans; parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents; immigrants and the native-born; homebodies and world travelers; computer-phobes and the computer literate. This presents both a challenge for us as we work to serve these disparate groups and a wonderful opportunity to learn from and appreciate all the diversity this group embodies.
