Free and low-cost support is available

Thursday, April 19, 2012

According to a report released February 2012 by the National Council on Aging and the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, millions of Americans are missing out on over $20 billion in free and low-cost support that is available to help pay for health care, prescriptions, food, and utilities.

This support comes in the way of state and federal benefit programs such as Food Assistance, Medicare Savings Programs, and the Home Energy Assistance Program.
As a partner of the Aging and Disability Resource Network (ADRN), the Lake County Council on Aging provides assistance to help you access these programs, saving you money and improving your economic security. Through a series of questions, we can conduct a screening and determine what benefit programs may be available to you. A benefits specialist will discuss the various programs with you and help you to apply. We will also follow up with you once the applications are submitted to see if you need assistance and troubleshoot any problems you may be having with obtaining benefits.
